Stuff happens every day but the world got a little poorer with the death of Kate McGarrigle. She was only 63. She performed with here in Canada with her sister Anna under the somewhat sensible name of the McGarrigle Sisters. She was for a while married to Loudon Wainright III of Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road fame. Their genes combined well as Rufus and Martha Wainright are their kids.

But Kate and her sister did something very Canadian: The Log Driver’s Waltz. If this does not make you smile and make you proud, nothing will.
